Teach in a big or small city

When you apply for a teaching position with us, you can choose to teach in a big city or a small city.

In terms of population, a small city in China isn’t small by Western comparison. In fact, a small Chinese city could be home to a few million people!

If you choose to work in a small city, chances are you’ve never heard of the place we recommend. But that’s ok, we can answer any questions you have or help you find another place.

The big cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou are often chosen by first-time teachers because that’s all they know. But there’s so much more to China than the big cities.

Some teachers prefer the smaller cities because they feel friendlier and have a more personal vibe.

On the other hand, other teachers prefer the bigger cities where there are more Western conveniences and foreigners.

Ultimately, it’s a personal choice. It all boils down to the kind of experience you want.
